Sissy Squat Hacks
Introduction
In this relatively quick video, I show you two hacks for you to execute within your Power Rack to perform the Sissy Squat. I love this exercise, and it is an extremely effective way to work out your quads.
As I explained in the video - I added a loaded barbell to the rear of my rack to act as a counterweight. Since my rack is relatively lightweight, and we do not want the rack to wobble/move, this solves the problem. If you have a more “heavy duty” Power Rack, you may not have to do perform this extra step.
There is not a lot to these hacks - so I will keep this short!
Hacks
Hack #1:
I added the barbell to the rack slightly below knee level, and added a barbell pad to make the exercise tolerable.
Using the 10-foot -long lashing strap to secure your feet is not completely necessary, but I suspect most people will gravitate towards using it because it helps prevent your feet from slipping out from underneath you. However, I suggest first trying it without securing your feet and seeing how you do. If you like how it feels without the strap - then there is no use in taking an additional step that is unnecessary for you.
Hack #2:
This hack is essentially the same as Hack #1, but instead of a barbell we use a second 10ft long lashing strap.
So Why would anyone use Hack #2? First, it just feels different, and perhaps you might prefer it. Since the strap has some flexibility to it that that a barbell cannot provide, it feels different and it is worth trying. Secondly, If you only have 1 barbell and are already using it as a counterweight so your rack doesn’t tip/wobble - then try this before buying a second barbell.
