INTRO

I have already reviewed the RitFit M1 and RitFit M1 Version 2.0 Pro (Plate Loaded) and the RitFit M1 Version 2.0 Pro (Selectorized Weight Stacks)…so what is the difference?

The M1 and the M2 both are half racks with Smith machines, pullup bars, dip bars, landmine, band pegs, 6 detachable weight horns on the back, and an integrated functional trainer both a 2:1 cable pulley ratios and both with Plate loaded and Selectorized Weight Stack options….providing the ability to a myriad of exercises – including low rows, and lay pull downs, SO what is the difference:

Well the M1 is a rack comprised of 2’x2” uprights – whereas the M2 is comprised on 2.36” x 2.36” uprights. Further, the M1 is made of 14 gauge steel, whereas the M2 is made up of slightly thicker 13 gauge steel.

Perhaps the biggest difference of all: the M2 offers an option for a standard Smith Machine (where the bar travels vertically along a fixed path and a “3D” smith machine option, where the Smith machine not only moves vertically but horizontally as well – allowing for the FEEL of a standard free-weight barbell.

Further, with the M2, they are offering other attachments that are not offered with the M1, including a Lat Pulldown Attachment, the Lat Pulldown seat/Leg Holder, and coming soon… Jammer Arms.

VARIANTS

The M2 product currently comes in 4 variations:

  • M2 – Plate-loaded functional trainer with a standard smith machine (vertical movement only). This was listed on the RitFit website last week (as of November 2025), but as of today it is no longer listed. By the time you read this, it may be back on the RitFit Website).

  • M2 3D: Plate-loaded functional trainer with a 3D smith machine (vertical and horizontal movement).

  • M2 PRO: Functional trainer with 2 x 143 LBS weight stacks and a standard smith machine (vertical movement only).

  • M2 3D PRO: Functional trainer with 2 x 143 LBS weight stacks and a 3D smith machine (vertical and horizontal movement).

FOOT PRINT

  • Depth: 68” front from the front feet to back to the tip of the weight plate storage arms on the rear of the rack

  • Width: 47.5” outside of uprights, edge to edge….and it is 79.5” wide if going by the length of the Smith Machine barbell.

  • Height: The top of the Lat Attachment sits at 87.75” from the ground and while it may look like it the highest point on the rack (optical illusion in the video) – the top cross members are at 86.25” tall.

REVIEW

Let me start one out by saying that the RitFit M1 is the best value budget all in one rack that I have used to date. The price is right, and what you  compare it to the competition it is a fantastic value. The RitFit M2 is basically double the cost of the RitFit M1…so is having a slightly larger uprights (i.e., 2” vs 2.36”) worth paying roughly double the price? I will let you figure that out for yourself. To help you make that decision let’s go over the benefits and the shortcomings of the RitFit M2.

Shipping and Assembly

  • FEDEX did a great job. The exterior of the boxes were in great shape when they arrived. Further, the packaging inside the boxes was very good.

  • There were no significantly damaged parts - just the usual tiny scratches you get with all budget brands of home gym equipment. With RitFit, Major fitness, Mikolo, Syedee, GMWD, etc…nothing ever arrived in pristine condition…but If I judged on a curve…then this arrived in A- condition. So pretty good.

  • The Assembly instructions I think were written before they made some changes to the product…but nothing that I wasn’t able to figure out on my own. I completed the assembly in about 6 hours by myself.

Pull up Bar

This is a multi-grip pull-up bar which has a 28mm thickness and knurling in all grip areas. Feels comfortable. No issues. Pull up bar height: 85” from top of bar to ground. The Pull-up Bar Load Capacity is 465 LBS.

FREE Attachments

The M2 includes Dip Bars, Landmine attachment, T-Bar Row attachment, Foot Bar (Foot Holder/ Foot Plate, 2 x Barbell Clamps, 4x Resistance Band Pegs, 2 x D handles with knurled grips, and a Straight bar and Lat Pulldown bar. Further, you get J-Hooks and Spotter Arms — both of which are vastly better than the M1’s included J-Hooks and Spotter Arms.

The Spotter Arms on the M2 is wider and has holes on the sides for adding other attachments. However, I think that they need to be longer. Since they made the J hooks bigger, they should also make the spotter arms longer…because the path of the barbell cannot hit the J hook so – so by making the j hooks bigger  you are not left with a ton of room on the Spotter Arms.

Further, on the Dip Bars, J-Hooks, and Spotter Arms: instead of having a UHMW lining like there is on my Rep Fitness options, they added some felt to the channel here to prevent the channel from scratching up the powder coat. I don’t know how long this felt will last before it starts peeling off– and if they are going to add it – I wish they added it to the top part as well to better protect the powder coat.

In summary, the included attachments will get the job done, but I recommend upgrading to these:

  • Higher-End Lat/Pull Down Bar - This is aluminum – so its super lightweight. Nice knurling. Great swivel action. There are 4 colors available.

  • Attachment SET: Having a functional trainer without a rope attachment or a chinning triangle just does not make sense to me. They have both a 3 piece set – or a 4 piece set - and these attachments are all pretty nice.

Powder Coat

The Powder Coat is not premium, but not terrible. It is the same level of quality as everything I have ever received from Ritfit, Major Fitness, Syedee, GMWD, Mikolo…they all have that same dull cheaper powder coat , which is not going to standup to a lot of abuse over time. However, the M2’s Powder Coat is in alignment with what you should expect from these budget brands.

Benching/Squatting of front uprights

Regarding the half rack …where we can bench, and squat and press, row, etc…we have 2.36 x 2.36” uprights with 16 x 1 “ holes and  4” holes spacing. The M1 also has 4 -inch hole spacing. This is a common hole spacing amongst these budget friendly all in one racks.

Getting back to those J Hooks and Spotter Arms: The Static Load Capacity is 660 LBS --- WHERE each single-side Static Load Capacity is 330 lbs.

The height of lowest spotter arms setting is 13.75” (as measured from the ground to the top surface of the Spotter Arms).

You can set the J-Hook to a maximum height of 67 ¾” from the ground (as measured from the ground to the surface of the pocket of the J-Hook) if set the the J-Hook ABOVE the trolley. Alternatively it can be set to a maximum height 59 5/16” of you set it BELOW the functional trainer trolley.

Since the cable is situated so close to the upright – you can freely squat with the trolley above or below the J-Hooks. Whereas with me Rep Fitness ARES 1.0 on my Rep Fitness PR-5000 rack, the cable is so far away from the upright, that the barbell is impeded by the cable. However, with the RitFit M2, you do not have that issue.

3D Smith

Now let’s talk about this 3D Smith machine – which is probably the most compelling and unique part of the M2. Let me start off by saying that The 3D SMITH is very Smooth both vertically and horizontally. It has chrome sleeves, and a relatively passive knurl on a 32mm shaft (according to my measurements).

The 3D Smith Machine barbell is 79.5” long and weighs 33 LBS according to the website – but according to my measurements it weighs 39 LBS.

  • Highest setting of smith: 62” on pegs (measured from bottom of barbell)

  • Highest 3D smith not on pegs: 69” (measured from bottom of barbell)

  • Lowest setting for the 3D smith: 19.5” (measured from bottom of barbell)

Once you pull the two pins at the bottom of the 3D Smith Machine’s Brackets, you can now enable the Smith Barbell to not only move vertically - but also Horizontally. SO WHAT IS THE POINT? Here it is: It feels like a regular barbell, but with the added safety and efficiency of a smith machine….and you still have the option to transition it to a fixed path Smith Machine.

With the 3D option there is only 4.5” Inches of HORIZONTAL movement. The ROM is not great – but I don’t think its pretending to be something its not --- its meant for subtle fluctuations horizontal movement as you get with benching, squatting,  barbell rows, overhead presses, etc. It is not meant to be used for movements with dramatic movements – such as barbell lunges or even curls…that is not what this is for.

That being said but they could squeeze in a few more inches of HORIZONTAL movement if they did the following:

  • Make the brackets and horizontal guide rods longer by setting the holes for the Functional Trainer’s guide rods back an inch or two

  • The upper bracket and the bottom bracket on both sides are not aligned. If they were aligned, you could squeeze in a little over 1.25” of extra Range of motion.

Further, I think that they should add locking pins to the top of the 3D Smith Brackets - instead of only having them at the bottom. With them only being at the bottom, there is still some wiggle when the Smith Machine is locked in a vertical path and is being used at higher settings.

Functional Trainer

The Functional Trainer is very smooth. The aluminum pulleys have very smooth bearings in them – and as long as you use lubrication on the guide rods – like with all cable pulley systems – you will really enjoy using it.

I currently have the plate-loaded version. U However, my twin 143 LBS weight stacks should arrive soon.I love the efficiency of using a selectorized stack and therefore think that it is worth the upcharge.

  • Single-side Pulley Handle Static Load Capacity: 352 lbs

  • Cable travel: 107”

  • Number of heights for the functional trainer = 16

  • Highest setting of Functional Trainer: 70” from ground to tip of carabiner or 72” without the supplied carabiner

  • Lowest setting for Functional Trainer:14” from ground when pulling up or 16” with the 2” supplied carabiner

MY only major issues with the Functional Trainer is that there is a conflict between 450mm plates on the Smith machine and 450mm plates on the functional trainer’s trolley. The original M1 had this problem, but they fixed it with the M1 2.0. Therefore, having this SAME issue with the M2 is disappointing.  This means that if you are using 450mm plates which is the size of all bumper plates and the size of most Iron 45LBS plates – you will have to remove the plates from one of these components to have plates on the other component – which certainly not ideal. It appears that they have the room for the guide rods to move back 2” which would eliminate this problem.

Plate Storage

You get 6 removable Weight Storage horns, EACH ONE with a static load capacity: 280 lbs. They rae canted upwards to mitigate the risk of plates ever falling off, and they are spaced out enough to allow for 450mm plates on all 6 weight horns.

Lat Pulldown Attachment

The top of the Lat Attachment is 87.75” tall, and the tip of the ball at the end of the cable sits at 84.5” tall when it is at it's highest setting - allowing for a very substantial ROM.

The Lat Attachment is an optional buy…but it is a “no brainer” if you want to do Lat Pulldowns comfortably. It bolts on easily – and enables 2 things:

1.      Executing Lat Pulldowns without having to have your face so close to the uprights.

2.       It increases the range of motion by setting the starting position to be approximately  8” taller than if you were using the functional trainer without this product.

However, I do have two issues:

  • There is no provided way to stow the cable. You could wrap it around the attachment or wrap it around the pull-up bar when not in use. However, it looks unsightly and will exacerbate cracking of the vinyl coating on the cable. Therefore, my preferred method is to use Magnetic hooks, to keep my cable out of the way, and easily be able to grab it. – LINK TO PUCHASE HERE: https://amzn.to/48kBcfq

  • You lose the ability for the functional trainer’s pulley to swivel when it is at its highest setting.

Lat Pulldown Seat

There is also an optional Lat Pulldown Seat, which doubles as a Chest Support Pad. This is a budget version of the Rep Fitness Pegasus seat.

You have to attach it UNDER THE TROLLEY…and then this will allow you to perform seated Lat Pulldowns comfortably.

  • It has an adjustable leg holder with 4 height settings.

  • The seat has a tilting mechanism allowing you set to set it 4 ANGLES – when using it as a “Chest Support Pad”/Seal Row Pad.

Nice little seat. However, I do have some critiques:

  • The upholstery may look okay from a far, but underneath there is seam which is stapled on. It was just cut and stapled – I think a skirting material should have been added over that seam – to make it look nicer and mitigate the possibility that you snag one of those staples and damage the upholstery

  • As it is currently designed it needs to come with its own cable,. It needs a SHORTER CABLE than the cable that is provided with the Lat Pulldown Attachment. Since you have to set the trolley ABOVE the seat…it would otherwise makes the caribiner too low for me to get a FULL Range of Motion. Mine was not supplied with the seat, Therefore, I had to reach out to Ritfit and have one sent to me. Of course the cable length WOULD BE just fine it you COULD set the trolley below the seat….like you can with the bulldog pad – since on the BULLDOG PAD the cable can pass through the gap in the two prices if steel on this sides

  • The pad’s width is great for using as a seat, but a bit too wide for using it as a chest-support pad. It is 14” wide near the top, and consequently digs into my shoulders too much for my taste.
