Lionscool Leg Extension and Leg Curl Machine Version 4
INTRO
Unlike leverage-based combo units, the Lionscool Leg Extension and Leg Curl Version 4 integrates a pulley and cam to make the resistance curve more consistent throughout the range of motion. Therefore, while it is a plate loaded unit, the cam and pulley aim to deliver a more consistent resistance curve usually only found with selectorized weight stack units.
After a Bench, Dumbbells, a rack, barbell, and plates…I feel like the most coveted price of home gym equipment is a Leg extension/leg curl combo unit. It makes leg day so much more enjoyable — and has you missing the commercial gym much less.
While I think most people would love to have a Leg Extension/Leg Curl Combo Unit with a selectorzed stack, BUT those will cost you $2K-3K (on the low end) - so the fact that you can get a Plate Loaded option that FEELS like a selectorized machine due to this unit’s CAM and this PULLEY for only around $400 is pretty great.
DESIGN
Three things stand out when looking at this unit.
First, there are two weight horns. Most compact unit like this have only one weight horn. By having two weight horns, it allows you to go heavy without worrying about bending the arm. If there was just one weight horn with the same loadable sleeve space - it would be more susceptible to bending. So this design increases the weight capacity.
Second, when transitioning from the Leg Extension (where the seat is angle upwards) to the Lying Leg Curl, the seats automatically fold down…leaving the two pads on the ends angled downwards. This put the body in a more effective and comfortable position. If the seat was still sloped upwards while performing the lying leg curl, it would be far less comfortable on your thighs.
Lastly, for the Leg Extension, the Back pad is adjustable, allowing you to to adjust the machine to get your knee in alignment with the pivot point of the Leg Roller pad’s arm.

PULLEY RATIO
It promises a NEAR 1:1 pulley ratio. However, based upon my measurements (as demonstrated in the video). The ratio is between about 70-80% of the weight.
SO it is not precisely 1:1 , but it is much better than many other Home Gym Combo units out there. What does this mean for you? It means that the TWIN 7.1” sleeves should be sufficient for most people as long as you aren’t using bumper plates which are thicker and therefore take up more sleeve space. Iron or steel plates are thinner and are going to be better for this product.
Also – You are going to have to use clamps so the plates do not fall off while in use--- so to save even more space on these sleeves…you might want to invest in collars that are thinner, as opposed to wide collars which is going to eat up sleeve space. SHIPPING
The Shipping was great, both boxes arrived in great condition, it was easy to assemble which took me about 90 MINUTES…. Save for one tiny scratch, it arrived in immaculate condition.
NEGATIVES
While the product is an amazing value, it is not perfect. AT this price, you cannot expect it to be perfect. Here are the negatives as I se them:
It is advertised as 6 gauge steel. The picture on the Lionscool website, points to the frame as being 6-gague steel. However, I measured that part being closer to 10 gauge (which is still plenty thick – but not 6 gauge).
The unit needs rubber collars to prevent scratches on the arm.
The Weight horn has some “wiggle” to it. This doesn't affect the functionality, but I weight horn was a bit “snugger” to eliminate the “wiggle”
It rocks when doing leg curls. There was no noticeable rocking when performing Leg Extensions, but noticeable rocking when doing leg curls. You might need to place some shims under the frame to prevent this rocking.
When performing the Leg Extension, you want to keep your knee in alignment with the pivot point of the Leg Roller Pad. In order to do this, you need to adjust the Back pad. I am 71” Tall, and for me the unit’s back pad DOES come forward enough FOR ME. However, if you are shorter than 71” you may need to wedge a pad behind your back. Something like this: https://amzn.to/4quTRLO
The Resistance curve on on the Leg Extension feels great throughout the Range of Motion. However, on the Leg Curl, the last 1-2” at the top of the rep, does have a slight decrease in felt resistance.
